To cope with the scorching heat of the summer, we tried many things. We increase fluid intake in different forms, it may be juices, soups, soft drinks, summer drinks, lassi, chaas etc.

Among various types of summer drinks, some are healthy whereas others are not healthy, rather they are detrimental to our health.

Among the common people, the consumption of soft drinks has increased by several folds. Soft drinks are the sources of simple sugars and empty calories, providing no nutrients. Moreover, they contain artificial colours, flavours, and preservatives.

Commercially available fruit juices are also loaded with a lot of sugar. They provide only small amounts of fruits. So, regular consumption of preserved fruit juices is not healthy for us.

It is always better to replace unhealthy drinks with healthy drinks.

Summer is the season for our favourite fruit mango. Fresh raw mango is widely available at low cost in the local market as well as in mango gardens.

Aam panna is a commercially available syrup which is used to prepare instant summer drinks. Only 2 tablespoons of Aam panna is adequate to prepare a glass of refreshing summer drink.

Aam panna syrup can be prepared at home using fresh raw mango. Home-made Aam panna is the healthier alternative to commercially available Aam panna because it does not contain any preservatives, artificial colour or flavour. Today, I like to share the recipe for preparing homemade Aam panna.
